A friend recommended this product to me. She had made some beautiful snowflake cookies using this product in white and edible glitter. I needed to make some red crab cookies for a play," The Little Mermaid," in which my son was playing Sebastian, the crab. I was hesitant to purchase this, despite my friend's recommendation, because of the reviews. But, I thought I'd try 1 bottle and NOT heat it. When the bottle arrived, I tried it at room temperature on piece of waxed paper. I tried making swirls and points, etc. It was fine. It dried hard, was a bright red color and didn't taste as bad as frosting that I've made using red food color tastes. So I ordered 2 more bottles. I used them to make 3 dozen large red crab-shaped cookies. They turned out really nice (I will post a photo). I need to qualify this by saying that I am not a professional baker and these did not look professional. But, they were really cute and were the only item to sell-out completely at intermission. The red icing did run a bit down the sides of the cookies. But, it also was good for "glueing" a couple crab claws that broke off back on. I recommend NOT heating this. Test it first for consistency, and if it is too stiff, heat it just enough to get the consistency you want. I did not need to heat it at all.

A big waste of money, the product icing was too thin and too runny, even before being microwaved. I originally purchased it for writing, but I'll make my own and use a round tip instead.

We bought this because it looked convenient and easy. Before we even put it in the microwave it was too runny. We put it in the microwave thinking that maybe that would thicken it up a bit but it was just worse. It just left a runny mess on our cupcakes. We tried two colors and they were both awful. Save frustration and make your own icing.
